FLAHERTY

Thomas J. Jr., age 65, a lifelong resident of Norwood, passed away on the evening of Friday, May 15, 2026, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Norwood, Tom was one of five children of the late Thomas J. Flaherty, Sr. and Susan (McInerney) Flaherty. He was raised and educated in Norwood and graduated from Norwood High School with the Class of 1979. Tom completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering later in life which was one of his proudest moments.
Following graduation, Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After completing his military service, he returned home where he worked construction many years in the Norwood area and then transferred into property management.
Tom was an avid sports fan who enthusiastically supported the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was an avid poker player. He often frequented Foxwoods Resort Casino and was a skilled Texas hold'em player. In his younger years, Tom was an accomplished pool player, earning trophies for his skill. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and the many memories they shared together, which included multiple trips to Ireland and family vacations on Cape Cod.
Tom is survived by his loving siblings: Maryellen Ferrara and her husband, John, of Plymouth; Kevin Flaherty of New Jersey; Linda Flaherty of Norwood; and Joseph Flaherty and his wife, Donna. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 9:00-10:30a.m. in the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St., Norwood, MA.
Following the visitation a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington Street, Norwood.
Tom will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
