Norwood remembers

From Norwood Veterans Agent Derek Wennerstrand:

“Twenty-five years ago, on Sept. 11, 2001, our nation experienced an unimaginable act of terror. Nearly 3,000 innocent people were taken from their families, and countless lives were forever changed. Yet, in the days and months that followed, we also witnessed the very best of America. We saw neighbors helping neighbors, communities standing together, and an extraordinary wave of patriotism sweep across our country. From a veteran’s perspective, one of the most powerful responses came from the men and women who volunteered to serve in our Armed Forces. Those who raised their right hands after September 11 did so knowing that war was no longer a distant possibility. They knew they could be sent into harm’s way, and still, they stepped forward.”

“God bless all those who died 25 years ago today. May the sacrifices of the 23 NYPD officers, the 37 PANY officers and 343 FDNY firefighters be an inspiration to those who are called to public service and may their memory be eternal. Thank you for being here today, may God Bless America.”
