Helicopters to hover in Norwood

Safety inspections going on all summer

June 4, 2026
1

As part of Amtrak’s ongoing infrastructure maintenance efforts, a helicopter will be conducting routine powerline patrol along the rail corridor. This work is part of a broader initiative to inspect approximately 6,000 pieces of Amtrak infrastructure between Boston and New Haven.

These inspections will continue from May through October, seven days a week, weather permitting. During the activity, the helicopter will be flying at approximately 125–150 feet above ground level and will briefly hover at each transmission tower as part of the inspection. To ensure full visibility and eliminate blind spots, the helicopter will make two passes on opposite sides of the track. You may also observe the helicopter traveling between locations or surveying the route.

Helicoptors Hovering is ICE ON DISPLAY!!!!! I think FIFA is a poor decision. Boston can't even run a smooth MBTA and we are expecting hundreds from around the world with gangsta prices for tickets?? Whose driving the bus??? Is it Bob Kraft???
