Homeownership committee seeking members
Town looking for resident volunteers

To support this effort, Norwood is creating a Housing Advisory Committee. This committee would be tasked with developing practical, implementable strategies to help low- and moderate-income households access homeownership, while also strengthening the Town’s broader housing approach.
The Committee’s work would focus on real-world solutions, such as programs where the Town or a partner organization acquires and renovates properties—like two- or three-family homes—and resells them at affordable, deed-restricted prices. It would also evaluate alternative models, including shared equity arrangements, local lending programs, and long-term affordability protections.
A key part of the effort will involve collaboration with the Norwood Affordable Housing Corporation (NAHC), as well as exploring how roles could be shared among the Town, nonprofit partners, and financial institutions. The Committee will also assess funding options, including Community Preservation Act (CPA) resources, state and federal programs, and other potential funding sources.
In addition to program design, the Committee will outline how a homeownership initiative would work in practice—from property acquisition and renovation to buyer selection, financing, and long-term affordability monitoring. It will also conduct research into best practices from other communities and gather input from residents and stakeholders to help shape its recommendations.
The proposed committee would consist of 5 to 9 members, bringing together experience in housing, real estate, finance, and law, along with perspectives from individuals directly impacted by housing costs. Town staff would provide support as needed.
