Silvestre D., 82, a longtime resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Beth Israel Hospital in Needham. He was the devoted and loving husband of Lucinda DaSilva.

Born in Vilarinho do Souto, Portugal, Silvestre was the eldest of two children born to the late Silvestre and Maria DaSilva. He was raised and educated in Portugal and proudly served his country as a veteran of the Portuguese Army, including time stationed on the Asian island of East Timor. Prior to his military service, Silvestre worked as a baker in Lisbon as well as a construction worker in France, experience that helped shape his strong work ethic and determination.

In 1972, Silvestre and his wife immigrated to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream, settling in Norwood, where they made a life and raised their family. He was first employed at Kendall Mills, and later spent many years with CertainTeed, from which he eventually retired after a long and admirable career.

In his leisure time, Silvestre enjoyed sharing his musical talents as a concertina player, performing with fellow musicians as part of the Norwood Portuguese Folklore Group. He was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to cheering on his beloved FC Porto Soccer Club. Above all else, Silvestre treasured the time spent with his family and the memories created together, especially those shared with his grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife, Silvestre is survived by his cherished children, Rob DaSilva and his wife Mindy, and Christina DaSilva and her husband Yimy Romero; his adored grandchildren, Sofia and Abigail DaSilva, and Tomas and Miguel Romero; his brother, Alberto Silva and his wife Ana Maria Silva; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents.

Visiting hours and funeral service provided by the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 650 Nichols Street, Norwood.
