On Wednesday, July 15, at approximately 7:34 a.m., Norwood Police responded to a barbershop at 1076 Washington St. for a reported breaking and entering. Responding officers discovered the front glass door had been shattered and the business had sustained extensive property damage.

Norwood Police Detectives reviewed surveillance footage, which showed a man forcibly entering the business by smashing the front door with what appeared to be a baseball bat before causing the damage inside. The footage also showed the suspect returning approximately one hour later and causing additional damage.

The suspect was later identified as ALLEN MALLOY, 64, of NORWOOD.

Officers located MALLOY at his residence. Officers also recovered the baseball bat believed to have been used during the incident.

MALLOY was charged with:

Breaking and Entering a Building in the Nighttime for a Felony (Two Counts)

Malicious Destruction of Property Over $1,200

MALLOY is expected to be arraigned Friday in Dedham District Court.

These charges are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
