BAKER

Edmund F., 84, a longtime resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury, surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his devoted family. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Guest) Baker.
Born in Boston, Edmund was one of four sons born to the late Frederick G. Baker and Bertha M. (Meisner-Baker) McCabe. He was raised in South Boston before relocating with his family to Randolph, where he graduated from Randolph High School.
A proud patriot, Edmund answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy following high school. He served from 1960 to 1963 and was honorably discharged upon completion of his military service.
Edmund enjoyed a successful career as a sales professional, working for many years in the steel , security and retail industries. Known for his warm personality, he possessed the ability to connect with anyone he met.
A parishioner of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Norwood, Edmund's faith remained a guiding force throughout his life. In his final days, he found great comfort in his belief in the promise of everlasting life.
In his spare time, Edmund enjoyed following New England sports and, in his younger years,woodworking. He was also a proud member of the Boston Crusaders Senior Drum & Bugle Corps., Massachusetts Crime Prevention Assoc and the Knights of Columbus. Above all else, he treasured the time spent with his family and the countless memories they shared together.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mary, Edmund is survived by his loving children: Linda Baker of Bonita Springs, Florida; James Baker of Naples, Florida; and Susan O'Connor and her husband, John, of Medway. He was the proud grandfather of five cherished grandchildren:Kaitlyn, Jake, Patrick, Molly, and James. He also leaves his companion and best friend, Benji.
He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Baker and his wife, Anise, of Abington; his sisters- and brothers-in-law, Eileen Button of Walpole, Danny Sullivan and his wife, Marie, of Foxborough, Louise Nicholson and her husband, Neil, of Mansfield, and Kevin Sullivan and his wife, Michelle, of Acton, Maine; and bonus daughter Joan Scanlon of Norwood as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Edmund was predeceased by his brothers, Frederick Baker Jr. and Robert Baker, sister -in-law Mildred Baker, brother in law Dave Button and his sister-in-law, Annette Percy.
Visitation services provided by the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood. Edmund's Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Timothy's Church, 650 Nichols Street, Norwood.
Edmund will be laid to rest privately with US Navy honors in recognition of his faithful and honorable service in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne
