Norwood resident killed in Boston

The Boston Police Department (BPD) announced the death of Norwood resident Jonathan Sanon, 35, on July 24.

The BPD initially reported the incident taking place on the morning of July 22, where a resident called in at 5:18 a.m. to report a man down at the intersection of Boylston and Tremont Streets – the southeast corner of the Boston Common.

Officers found Sanon “suffering from trauma,” and the Boston EMS team brought him to Tufts Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The BPD are charging Ashlie Jeremie, 27, of Bedford, MA for Sanon’s alleged murder, along with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and larceny under $1,200.

The BPD reported that Jeremie’s charges came because of two other incidents reported on the same morning. At 9:49 that morning, Downtown Police from the District A-1 Station arrested a person of interest at the John F. Kennedy Surface Road and Beach Street (a few blocks west of South Station) for an apparently unrelated assault. During the arrest, officers located and detained an individual, Jeremie, in possession of a metal pole.

BPD reported “the investigation determined that a second victim had been approached from behind and struck with the pole, causing him to fall to the ground.” That victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The BPD Homicide Unit alleges that Jeremie was the suspect in both incidents. He was arraigned on Thursday and not-guilty pleas were entered on his behalf. According to prosecutors, Jeremie has previously been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He is expected to return to court after a mental health evaluation.
