No Override
Thank you first responders. They need help up there. The town of Norwood leaders put us in a bad situation. An operational override vote on 6/15/2026 for $1.8 million is on the ballot for 18 new hires, (13 Firefighters, 5 Police) only. Up or down, no negotiation, that is it. The ballots were printed before the town meeting! Nothing to help the structural deficit! The only thing promised will be another override in 2 years. Mr. Tank Nardelli of District 7 made a motion to reduce the number of FF from 13 to 6 (11 new hires total, from 18), pay with free cash and come back next year, but that amendment failed and here we are. The point is, no other option? Any other way to finance this other than an override? Separate overrides menu style now? Out of 351 cities and towns, Norwood would be the first town in the state to have 4 FF per truck, (2 cities currently do). Overrides often do not pass. Westwood failed 2 last year. Easton did not pass a $1.5 million override on 4/28/2026 (4 Police 5 FF 2 DPW). We must do better for all. Keep Norwood affordable… Thank You, Ed Lynch TMM district 7.
