No Side Aisles?

It is quite interesting that one of the first things the School Committee discussed at their first meeting of the school year was their request to the Capital Outlay Committee for a feasibility study of elementary schools in the amount of $300,000, and the fact that request was not included in the Articles on the Annual Town Meeting Warrant.

Well, if the School Committee, Town Meeting Members, the Administration, Teachers, Parents and Residents noticed at all, neither the auditoriums at Norwood High and now, at the new Coakley, has side aisles at the end of the dead-end rows of seats even though that issue was pointed out in person, through several emails to the Middle School Building Committee and letters to the editor of The Norwood Record. And this major omission will last at least 50 years!

By the way, did anyone notice a couple of Town Meeting Members at the Annual climbing over the rows to get to a seat they wanted?

Norwood's students lost what they previously had because the auditoriums at the original Norwood Senior High School and the Coakley both had side aisles for easy ingress and egress, and actually, for their safety. They are this Town's young treasures. The elementary schools should remain in their neighborhoods and attention to them can be deferred. It is not top priority.

Here's a suggestion. Agree or disagree. In order to raise Norwood's school rating, how about the School Committee concentrate on the academic goals of students now and on their academic achievements at the end of the school year in 2027.
