Coleman, age 88, of Wrentham and formerly a longtime resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Alliance Health at Maples. He was the devoted and loving husband of the late Margaret A. (Folan) Folan, who passed away on October 3, 2016.

Born in Spiddal, County Galway, Ireland, Coleman was one of four children born to the late Coleman and Sarah (Curran) Folan. He was raised and educated on Ireland’s west coast.

At the age of 19, Coleman immigrated to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream. To show his appreciation for his new homeland, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served from 1961 to 1963. Upon his honorable discharge, he attained the rank of Private First Class.

For many years, Coleman worked as a custodian for the Norwood Public Schools. A familiar and friendly face throughout the school system, he took great pride in helping to provide a safe and comfortable environment for students and staff.

A man of deep faith, Coleman was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in East Walpole and St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Norwood.

In his spare time, Coleman enjoyed traveling throughout New England and taking trips to Disney. He loved listening to Irish music, 1970s rock, Johnny Cash, and many other artists. He also cherished his visits back to Ireland to spend time with family and reconnect with his roots. Above all else, Coleman found his greatest joy in the time he spent with his devoted family and in the many memories they created together.

Coleman is survived by his beloved children: Bartley Folan and his wife, Jessica; Mary Flaherty and her husband, Steven; and Bernadette Reed and her husband, Max. He was the proud and loving grandfather of Brady, Jeremy, Joseph, Sean, Alex, and Dylan. He is also survived by his sister, Maureen Hughes, as well as several extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Coleman was predeceased by his brothers: Michael Folan and Bartley Folan.

The entire Folan family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate staff of Alliance Health at Maples for the exceptional care, kindness, and support provided to Coleman and their family over the years.

Visiting hours will be held on THURSDAY, August 20, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood, MA.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington Street, Norwood. For those unable to attend the Mass in person, a livestream is available at the following link: https://stcatherinenorwood.org/live-stream

Coleman will be laid to rest with his late wife with U.S. Army honors at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
