EDITOR'S NOTE: All candidates are invited to send their candidacy announcements to News@NorwoodRecord.com

"I have over 12 years of experience in municipal and state public health departments and am deeply familiar with how local public health functions, said Ahnger-Pier. I believe that my experience will help guide the health department to continue to provide excellent services and resources to the Norwood community."
Ahnger-Pier is a career public health professional, having worked as an epidemiologist for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Boston Public Health Commission. She earned her Master of Public Health degree from Boston University and currently works for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Immunization Division.
"I am running to bring fresh ideas to improve Health Department services, including making full use of the Norfolk County 8 Shared Service Arrangement to provide staffing and services without impacting Norwood's town budget," said Ahnger-Pier. "I also want to review current regulations to ensure Norwood is up to date on potential issues or challenges facing our community."
An active member of the Norwood community, Ahnger-Pier has been involved with Impact Norwood, a community substance abuse prevention coalition, since 2022 and joined the group's steering committee in 2024. She is a member of the Norwood Public Schools' Health Council, volunteers with the Norwood Food Pantry, and has represented district nine as a town meeting member since 2019.
Ahnger-Pier and her husband, David, have lived in Norwood since 2015. Their daughter, Alexandra, is a second grader at the Prescott School.
Kathryn Ahnger-Pier will host a Meet the Candidate event at Napper Tandy's in Norwood on February 4 at 7 p.m. For more information, visit KathrynAPforNorwood.com.
