Alegria Albarrán Ciacia passed away on August 17th, at her home, with her parents at her bedside. Born in Norwood, Alegria moved to Quincy as a toddler.

She attended Sacred Heart School in Quincy and Fontbonne Academy in Milton. She graduated from Boston University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree, in Mathematics and Economics, Magna Cum Laude, but where she was also gifted with a wonderful and supportive roommate, Maria, who became one of her lifelong friends.

After graduation, Alegria joined and continued to work at State Street Bank, her last position as an AVP in Fund Accounting. She truly enjoyed her job – working with numbers was dependable she once told her mother – and the company of her co-workers, many of whom became her good friends.

Alegria’s thoughtfulness and love of her parents was steadfast – an unwavering constant in their lives.

Her sweet smile, patience, calm voice and graceful manner belied not only a resoluteness of character, but a quick and witty humor. Alegria had many interests and likes. She was an avid reader, loved dogs, and her appreciation of the outdoors and nature was often expressed in her artistic works. The time spent by the ocean was where she was perhaps most happy, whether swimming in beaches or walking along the shore.

Alegria will be remembered for her kindness, strength, loyalty and love. Our world seems a little less bright.

In addition to her parents, Alegria leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins – including her childhood playmates, Ricky, Gabrielle, Tony, Christina and Cole.

Visitation and funeral services provided by Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood.

Alegria’s Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington Street, Norwood. Internment at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alegria’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html?msockid=2d10e8534e0061d03d85fd974fd8609f
