John Joseph, lifelong resident of Norwood, passed away on August 15, 2026 at the age of 86. Devoted and beloved husband of Patricia F. (Ferrara) Cooke; father of Stephen Cooke and his late wife Marion of Norfolk, Tracy Henry and her husband Frank of Norwood, Christopher Cooke and his wife Julie of Wrentham, and John Cooke III of Walpole; brother of the late Janet Kane; adored grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of three. Dog-dad to many great pups through the years.

Jack grew up on the corner of Rock and Nahatan Streets, went to school at Saint Catherine of Siena, where he was a lifelong parishioner and was a graduate of Norwood High School, class of 1957. Jack went on to deliver mail in Norwood for 42 years, in which time he met many people around town who remember his smile and sense of humor. He was an avid golfer, like his own father, and shared that with his children and grandchildren. Other loves include stock car racing, the Red Sox, Patriots, Boston sports in general, and reading, never putting down a good book. Jack also had a stereo system in the 70s, that was second to none, which he shared unselfishly with his children, along with a record collection that spanned decades and genres.

Jack was married to the love of his life, his high school sweetheart Pat, for 65 wonderful years. Together they raised their four kids on Cedar Street, which were some of the best days of their lives and left them with many loving memories. In retirement, Jack and Pat enjoyed many warm winters in Florida, with their lifelong friends. He will be missed greatly by his family and his many, many friends.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, August 31, from 9-10:30 a.m., at Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood, followed by an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Catherine of Siena, 547 Washington Street, Norwood.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in John’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014
